On Wednesday, 26 August 2026, Joyous Charity, in partnership with the United States-based Send Me Project, carried out a livelihood-empowerment initiative for widows and children from widowed families in the Middle Farms community.
As part of the initiative, brand-new sewing machines and other essential tailoring tools were donated to selected beneficiaries free of charge. Their vocational training fees have also been fully paid, allowing them to learn sewing and tailoring until they complete their training and graduate.
Creating Sustainable Sources of Income
The initiative was designed to provide more than temporary relief. Its purpose is to equip widows and vulnerable young people with practical, income-generating skills that can help them become self-reliant and support their families over the long term.
For many widows and vulnerable families living in underserved or remote communities, the cost of vocational training and equipment can make it difficult to acquire valuable skills or establish small businesses. By providing both professional training and the tools needed to begin working, Joyous Charity and Send Me Project are removing two of the most significant barriers standing between the beneficiaries and economic independence.
Through their training, the beneficiaries will learn how to sew, design and produce garments and other textile products for customers within and beyond their community. After completing the programme, they will be able to use the donated equipment to practise their skills, generate income and gradually build sustainable livelihoods.
A Partnership Dedicated to Community Impact
The sewing machines were provided by Send Me Project, a partner organisation based in the United States of America. Send Me Project appointed Pastor Atud Clovis to represent the organisation in Cameroon and oversee the presentation of the machines to people who genuinely need them.
Pastor Atud Clovis was entrusted with this responsibility because of his presence in the field and Joyous Charity’s longstanding commitment to serving widows, orphans and vulnerable families. Through this collaboration, beneficiaries in the Middle Farms community were identified and supported with resources capable of producing lasting change.

In the same way, paying for training without providing the necessary equipment may leave a graduate unable to begin working. By combining fully funded vocational training with sewing machines and essential tools, the initiative provides a practical pathway from learning to earning.
Once they complete their training, the beneficiaries will be better positioned to establish small tailoring businesses, serve customers in their communities, provide for their families and possibly create employment or training opportunities for others.
For the widows and children supported through this programme, the machines represent more than equipment. They represent dignity, opportunity, independence and the possibility of a more secure future.
